We are seeking a strategic and technically adept Data Architect to drive enterprise analytics initiatives using the Microsoft data ecosystem. This role blends hands-on data science with leadership responsibilities, guiding a team in delivering scalable, secure, and actionable insights through tools like SQL ServerSSISPower BI, and Active Directory to develop and support SSIS/ETL Jobs and Sql Server databases pertaining to agency objectives and goals, public programs, education, research, and other initiatives within the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC), an independent agency of the United States government. The team operates within the agency’s Information Technology Infrastructure Operations Department (ITIOD). The role is a part of the Digital Transformation Team providing engineering solutions in support of the PBGC ITIOD. This position is Hybrid with 3 days onsite per week at customer site in Washington DC.

This role requires on site work in Washington, D.C. at least 3 days per week with remote work the other days.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and deployment of predictive models and machine learning algorithms.
  • Architect and optimize SQL Server databases and SSIS ETL pipelines for performance and scalability.
  • Develop and oversee Power BI dashboards, ensuring alignment with business KPIs.
  • Manage secure data access and compliance using Active Directory roles and policies.
  • Mentor junior data scientists and analysts, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into data-driven strategies.
  • Establish best practices for data governance, quality assurance, and model lifecycle management.
  • Communicate insights through compelling visualizations and executive-ready storytelling.
Qualifications
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Must have a Bachelors degree and 5+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or business intelligence.
  • Prefer technical lead or team lead experience.
  • Deep expertise in SQL Server, SSIS, and Power BI.
  • Strong understanding of Active Directory for role-based access control.
  • Architect and optimize SQL Server databases and SSIS ETL pipelines for performance and scalability.
  • Ability to architect end-to-end data solutions and guide technical direction for complex data schemas.
  • Experience with Azure Data Factory and Microsoft Fabric for cloud-based data orchestration.
  • Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement and executive presentations.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or related field.
Nice to Have:
  • Familiarity with Azure Synapse, Databricks, or Delta Lake.
  • Microsoft certifications (e.g., Azure Data Scientist Associate, Power BI).
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for data workflows.
  • Proficiency in Python for statistical modeling and machine learning.
Clearance Requirement:
  • Must be eligible to obtain a U.S. Public Trust Clearance
